Acupuncture.

Want to supplement your individualized chiropractic treatment plan?

Acupuncture is one of the oldest and perhaps also one of the best-known treatments within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practices. Acupuncture is the practice of inserting fine needles into specific meridians on the body. Each body part has a defined function, and a licensed acupuncturist knows where to insert the needles to release Qi or energy that the body needs to regulate itself. The needles’ seemingly-magical ability to heal the body is quite literally the result of the needles helping the body to heal itself.

Acupuncture can help to relieve pain, tension headaches, and menstrual cramps. It can also help improve fertility and circulation. In addition, acupuncture is said to help reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, and boost energy levels.

So how does acupuncture work? Researchers are still trying to figure that out, but the general consensus is that acupuncture stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the brain and throughout the body. These chemicals either change the experience of pain or trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones that promote healing.

Acupuncture is a safe and effective form of alternative medicine with a long history. If you’re looking for a natural way to improve your health, acupuncture may be worth considering. Chiropractic care and acupuncture have an extremely complimentary effect on one another, each helping to support the body in different, yet compatible, ways.

What do the needles look like? Will they hurt?

The needles are tiny and may feel like a little pinch or nothing at all. They’re not the same as a medical needle. After just one or two seconds, you won’t be able to detect that they’ve entered your body. They only go into the outer layer of skin, not as deep as a medical needle that is used for injection does.
